Micro Liposuction
Traditional Liposuction Techniques are Very Effective For Larger Areas. But For Smaller,
More Specific Areas, Micro Liposuction is the Ideal Liposuction Procedure.
While traditional liposuction is without a
doubt extremely effective at treating larger areas of the body where fat removal may be desirable, it does
have one disadvantage.
Traditional liposuction does not offer a way of tackling the smaller, yet equally stubborn areas of fat in very
specific areas. Because of this, a new liposuction procedure, Micro Liposuction has been
developed.
Micro Liposuction offers your surgeon the method for tackling areas such as the chin, the
neck and the cheeks, as well as other parts of the body.

How Much Does Micro Liposuction Cost?
Where Liposuction and Micro Liposuction differ is in the size of the surgical instruments. In both types of
liposuction, the main instruments are the cannula and the
aspirator. The cannula is a thin tube used to suck out the unwanted fat, while the
aspirator is the device that applies the vacuum. However, with Micro Liposuction, the cannula is much thinner,
often with as small a diameter as 2mm.
This means that much smaller areas of fat can be removed effectively, and with minimum disruption to the
surrounding tissue.
The patient should understand that Micro Liposuction is not suitable for high volume liposuction. However, when
used for small areas, there are several advantages to the Micro technique.
Firstly, Micro Liposuction is able to treat those small, stubborn pockets of fat that do not respond to exercise
in a way that normal liposuction is just not able to. Fine contouring becomes a possibility with
this method.
Micro Liposuction also has the benefit that, due to the smaller size of the surgical instruments used, it is far
less invasive a procedure. Any scars it leaves behind are very small and barely noticeable,
making Micro Liposuction the perfect procedure for removing fat from the face and neck, along with any
other areas that would likely to be highly visible.
Because the procedure is less invasive, it can generally be performed with the patient under local, rather than
general anesthesia. This, in itself, helps to reduce the chance of complications.
Recovery is also much quicker, there is less pain and typically less
bruising to the patient. All in all, the benefits of Micro Liposuction over traditional liposuction are
quite compelling.
Like all liposuction, Micro Liposuction is performed using the Tumescent Liposuction method.
The cannula is used to both remove fat, and to pump a large quantity of a solution containing the local
anesthetic Lidocaine, along with epinephrine to temporarily shrink the blood
vessels. The Lidocaine doubles up as an anti-bacterial agent, reducing the likelihood of infections. The
micro cannula is moved to-and-fro, either mechanically or manually, to loosen and then extract fatty tissue.
Micro Liposuction is very frequently used by surgeons as a way of getting rid of a patient's double chin, along
with other areas of unwanted fat.
In fact chin liposuction is becoming
increasingly popular amongst patients, and has its own name, submental liposuction.
Liposuction, as an area of surgery, is becoming safer and safer, as surgical knowledge and
expertise becomes ever more advanced; and Micro Liposuction is certainly a lower-risk type of liposuction.
However, as with all liposuction procedures, there are risks involved with Micro Liposuction. Your surgeon can
be expected to explain all of the risks before your treatment, but some of the possible complications are
allergic reaction to medications, infections, and skin and tissue damage. Thromboembolysm is a possibility,
albeit very slight. Damage to nerves, or to internal organs, depending on where the liposuction is targeting are
low risks, but are none the less factors that the patient should be aware of.
Additionally, there is always the chance that the results are not what you hoped for, aesthetically.
As a patient, you do owe it to yourself to research the procedure, and also your cosmetic surgeon, before
committing to surgery.
Micro Liposuction costs can be expected to vary, depending on which country you live in, the
expertise of your Liposuction Surgeon, and how exclusive the clinic that you choose is!
One of the several benefits of Micro Liposuction is that by removing the need for the patient to stay overnight
in the clinic, and by removing the need for general anesthesia, it will generally be more
affordable than other types of liposuction.
An average cost for Micro Lipo is around $3,500 but it is possible to save on the costs by
travelling abroad for your Micro Liposuction. Countries such as the Czech Republic, Poland, Thailand, India,
Dominican Republic and Argentina are all much cheaper for all cosmetic procedures, and it is not uncommon to find
possible savings of 80% or more.
